TOUFEN 3rd DAY: ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE

I was reading im bed last night, Feb. 7th around 11:30, when the room started moving. Man, I thought, this feels like an earthquake. Rather than moving, the room was actually swaying. Not a nice feeling I can tell you.

I jumped out of bed and got dressed in milliseconds. But then the earthquake stopped,so I went back to bed but it was difficult to continue reading so I just went to sleep.

This is the third major earthquake since we arrived last Sunday, four days ago. By major I mean either rated above 6.0 or I felt it. In reality, if I didn't feel it, it wasn't major. But there were a few more earthquakes or tremors in between. The list below shows the more recent,  the lower numbered ones are what they usually call "after shocks." All these earthquakes took place around the same area, the Eastern seaboard city of Hualien. I understand that it's a very common area for earthquakes- Poseidon apparently resides in the neighborhood.

List of this week's Hualin earthquakes is below, we arrived on the 4th.

Feb. 4, 9:12 PM, 5.3
Feb 4, 9:56 PM, 6.1   <- we didn't feel this one, we were driving.
Feb 4, 10:10 PM, 5.3
Feb. 6, 11:50 PM, 6.4  <- Maya felt this one and frightened her, I slept through it.
Feb. 7, 12:17 AM, 5.1
Feb. 7, 2:00 AM, 5.1
Feb. 7, 2:07 AM, 5.2
Feb. 7, 3:15 AM, 5.4
Feb. 7, 11:21 PM, 5.7  <- I definitely felt this one!

Here is a photo of the damage to a hotel building by the Feb. 6th earthquake (the 6.4 big ome)

I haven't talked to Maya yet. I'll hear from her when we meet for breakfast.
