TOUFEN 2nd DAY: LAVENDER WORLD!

We got to the next stop, in Touwu District, driving through the narrowest, most convoluted roads with the most curves I've seen. But very beautiful to drive through the mountains. I kept thinkig, man it would be wonderful to drive here in my Corvette- except that the car would be too wide for the road.

It was most interesting encountering a car coming in the opposite direction. There was barely any space for both cars to squeeze through.

This place is a tourist one whose main attraction is the lavender flowers planted throughout and, of course, all kinds of things and foods made with lavender. For flower-oriented people, you know who you are, this is probably heaven.

This is located in a township called "Touwu" that, to my best understanding means "Head Room." Something like the old Max Headroom famous back in the 60s.

Walking towards the facility there were flowers along the path, even though it's February and cold

This is the entrance to the main facility. The flowers on the left are...

Of course, there is only so much you can do with lavender flowers and the lavendercolor to attract tourists. So, the owner has set up this workshop where children, and adults too if they want, can do art stuff. This room is for building things.
She has  (the owner is a woman) all kinds of tools and materials to do things. I assume that the material to build things are kits where the talented tourists can build something in a short time and leave the place happily with what their innate creativity produced. Naturally, a few days after returning home they are wondering why they built that thing, and a few more days afterwards it probably finds itself in the trash to be recycled.

What else to offer in a lavender destination, the owner thought. Very cleverly, there is this set up where you can buy all types of cards to mail.

There are tables and pens to write the card to your dear friend. Here is Maya writing her missive, to whom? (I took this photo while outside through the plate-glass window)

Once you write your postcards, youhave to mail them. Lavender place is ready for that. You just put your cards in any of these boxes that are labeled with the month and year when you want your card mailed. There is even a box where they will mail your card in three years! Hopefully you haven't moved in the interim.

Vegetation around here is very thick, you can barely see a small lake in the background.

Now the drive back to the hotel in Toufen.
